On Monday 17th March, all the string players at St Mary's went to Colyton Grammar School to take part in a string workshop run by A Level students from the school. After playing fun pulse and rhythm games, the children had a go at sight reading their music 'Ripe Banana'. Next the sections of the orchestra split up, went to different rooms and were taught how to play the music, led by one of the Colyton Grammar Students. During the break the children were given yummy biscuits and juice to drink. Finally the children played through their piece, working a bit more on the dynamics and performance style. The children really enjoyed the day. Thank you to the Colyton Grammar School students for organising such a fantastic event. We are hoping to perform Ripe Banana at our summer music concerts.
