Monday

Read the story again to your child, inviting them to join in with some of the retelling.

Today we are going to see if we can remember the order of the story.  I have attached the pictures of the story and the children will be cutting them out and then sticking them in the correct order. We will be saying things like, ‘What happened at the beginning of the story? What did Baby Bear do first? What happened next?  Etc.  After that we will be retelling the story in our own words.  Take turns with your child to retell the story in order.

Last week I showed the children a You Tube clip that showed the surface of the moon. They really enjoyed watching it so I have attached it for you to show your child if you wish.

Tuesday

Read the story again to your child, inviting them to join in with some of the retelling.

We will be writing a letter to Mummy Bear from Baby Bear about their visit to the moon. Encourage your child to be in role as Baby Bear and think about their journey to the moon and what they did and who they met.  At school I will write a letter first to show the children what to do. We will think of what we can include in the letter together.  Your child will need to help them decide what to write in the letter.  Decide on about three or four sentences that they could write.  Encourage them to say their sentence out loud before they write it and help them to put spaces between their words. You could help them to use the word bank attached.

Together with your child (in role as Baby Bear) write a letter to Mummy about your trip to the moon.

Wednesday

Today we will be following a simple recipe to make moon rock cakes.

I have attached the recipe to follow with your child.

I hope you enjoy making moon rock cakes together.

Thursday

Read the book again. What was it like on the moon for Bear? What do you know about the moon? Do you know much about space?

What do we know about the moon/space?

Write the children’s ideas. Scribe for them.

What would we like to find out?

Write the children’s ideas. Scribe for them.
