Forest School

This morning the children enjoyed their second session of Forest School.  Wearing waterproofs and Wellies meant the children could fully embrace activities like the Mud slide and Mud pit.  The children joined in enthusiastically with the Forest School song.  They recalled plants they knew they had to be careful around in the woodland area and remembered the 123 call. Some were aware the mud might be slippery.... already developing the skills of assessing risk. When asked what they could see, hear or smell in the woodland they talked about the birds, mud, trees and a smell of broccoli! They all made a stick person, using the loppers, peeling the willow, using sanding blocks and then felt tips to personalise. They listened sensibly to the tool talk and then respected the rules to keep themselves and others safe. They then found places for their stick people to live or made it a home and also enjoyed playing ‘hide and seek’ and working together to get several of them in the hammock.
