Home Learning week beginning 20 April 2020

Eagle Class- Home Learning Summer Term 20 April 2020

We hope that you have had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed some quality family time. Mrs Bray and Mrs Gill miss you all and would really love to be with you in class again at this time but, as this is not possible, we have some activities that you can be carrying on with at home to extend your learning. We know it's tricky doing school work at home because there can be lots of distractions so we are just asking you to do your best; you've all worked so hard since September and we know how super you are.

All of the adults in Eagle class hope that you and your families are well and that you are facing each day with a smile.

Make sure you look at the resource links below

Maths
  • Please continue to practise your times tables on TTRock Stars. Have a look at the Times Tables page for more information.
  • Remember that on Hit the button on  Top Mark Maths you can practise some of your key math skills.
  • We have also included a folder with some activities which include: area and perimeter problems, Maths Easter Mysteries and a grid of some fun maths challenges.
Reading
  • Please continue to read daily. We have included some different reading challenges that can be completed alongside your reading.
  • Try contacting the library to see if you can work on the Book Track Scheme from home (the Exeter libraries are letting us do this).
Spelling
  • Continue to work on the words from your personal spelling lists. They are words specifically chosen for you from the assessments. If you can't find your list, we'll find a way of getting another to you. We have also included some ideas of different ways to help remember these spellings - see lists below - you need to know Year 3/4 (we've been calling them Set 1) and Year 5/6.
Writing
  • Write each day in your diary. Remember it can also include information about you and your family and friends and compare it to what you would normally be doing during this time.
  • This week can you include a range of fronted adverbials in your writing and spellings from the 5/6 word list? These are included in the resources below.
  • If you want to practise and refresh your memory about fronted adverbials there is a powerpoint attached in the resources below.
Topic
  • Have a go at creating a poster or report about World War 2.
  • You could include information about: how it started, evacuees, what to do during an air raid, rationing etc...
  • Write this from what we have learnt this term. If you have access to the internet use Kiddle to research this further.
  • If you would like to take a photo of your work and email it to the school we can then include it on the class page.
SPAG
  • Remember the work we did on Relative pronouns and Relative clauses? Yes, you do! Relative pronouns are: who (only use this for people, never animals!)/ which / that  …. we use these at the start of a relative clause to give more information. Sometimes we do this inside parenthesis (brackets, dashes or commas). They can look like this: Mrs Bray ate too many Easter eggs (which actually belonged to her children). When you write in your diary, or d any writing at all, see if you can sneak some of these in. Not only does it make your writing more informative but you are also showing off your grammar and punctuation skills at the same time.
RE
  • We are right in the middle of Holy Week and Easter; remember that it's not all about the bunny and the eggs. Easter is the most important celebration for Christians..... have a think why this might be! I have included a few Easter activities for you to think about and complete.
  • Remember that God loves us and is always with us; He can hear you when you talk to Him so if you're feeling a little down in the dumps about things right now, He is a great person to talk to.
