Home Learning week beginning 27th April 2020

Dear Eagles and Eagle families!

We hope you are well and keeping busy during this unusual time. Mrs Bray and Mrs Gill have put some work together for you to continue what we have been learning in class.

Maths
  • Please continue to practise your times tables on TTRock Stars. Have a look at the Times Tables page for more information.
  • Remember that on Hit the button on  Top Mark Maths you can practise some of your key math skills.
  • This week there are some St George's Day math activities ranging in difficulty. These are organised so the lower the number the easier the challenge. These activities will give you a fun way to practise your key math skills. You can complete more than one for some extra math excitement!
  • Have a look at 3D shapes. Remind yourself of their properties and complete the activity. Try to find real life 3D objects in your house to help you. Then watch the bitesize video about them and look through the powerpoint. Have a go at making a range of nets for different 3D shapes. You can use the templates or have a go at creating your own. What 2D shapes do you need to make the net? How many of each shape are there? How are they joined together? Is there only one way to make the net? Again the shape work is in two folders where number 1 provides more support than folder number 2. When you have made your nets take a picture and either send an email of it to the school or share on the facebook page. Have fun!
  • If you have any difficulty accessing any resources please let us know and we will get these to you. You can also complete a section from the maths books, if you were given given one, each day. This will allow you to practise the skills you have learnt so far this year.
  • Remember we are all at different stages of our maths learning and all work will be numbered. the lower the number the easier the challenge. Have a look at the questions first and try to find the right challenge for you. Remember maths is about making and learning from our mistakes and if you want to try different levels of challenge that would be great.
Reading
  • By now you should have all received your Bug Club login. If there are any problems please let us know.
  • Please continue to read daily. We have included some different reading challenges that can be completed alongside your reading.
  • Try contacting the library to see if you can work on the Book Track Scheme from home.
  • There are also some St George's day reading comprehensions to have a go at.
Spelling
  • Continue to work on the words from your personal spelling lists. They are words specifically chosen for you from the assessments. If you can't find your list, we'll find a way of getting another to you. We have also included some ideas of different ways to help remember these spellings - see lists below - you need to know Year 3/4 (we've been calling them Set 1) and Year 5/6.
Writing
  • Write each day in your diary. Remember it can also include information about you and your family and friends and compare it to what you would normally be doing during this time.
Topic
  • As we have just celebrated St George's Day we thought it would be a lovely opportunity to present information about your team saint. We have included some information in the resources below to help but please if you are able conduct your own research to add to this.
  • We are looking forwards to seeing how you choose to present this. An information poster, a report, a video presentation? The choice is yours.
  • Again please share your wonderful work with us through email or facebook.

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

  • This week’s SPAG work focuses on getting completely secure with where full stops need to go in order for a sentence to make sense; then we move on to looking at adverbs, subordinate clauses, parenthesis and speech.

  • There are 5 tasks to do – you could do one each day or blitz through them in one whole day or do them when the mood takes you BUT they need to be done in order as each one builds upon the work from before. Next week’s work continues from this.

 R.E

  • The RE focuses on the resurrection of Jesus – we will be looking at the Gospels from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and then having lots of fun by getting creative to show a resurrection scene. We’d love to see photos of your Lego / Playmobil / nature resurrection creations! Next week’s work look’s at the disciple Thomas and how he was affected by the resurrection.

 Art

  • Look through the powerpoint and remind yourselves of Andy Warhol`s work and colour theory.
  • Next try the grid pattern task on the powerpoint ( it's what we did in class).
  • After this you can look at instructions on word document saved in resources and try some of the art activities on the you tube lessons.

Please put photos of your work on the Eagles Unit section of the Facebook page so that we can see what you’ve been up to and give you lots of praise and encouragement!

Keep working hard, you fantastic bunch of Eagles! See you soon,
