Phonics

Monday

Recap all the sounds and words learnt so far using the power points attached or phonics play.  I have also added the tricky word songs we like watching at school if you wish to use them.

Keep practising reading and spelling the high frequency words. It is really helpful for your child if the high frequency words can be read by sight without having to be sounded out.  Once your child is confident with those five, choose the next five.  If five words are too much try three.

Watch Geraldine teach igh. The igh phoneme is a trigraph because it has three letters that make one sound.  Find the igh Bug Club lesson. Follow the lesson. As well as practising reading and writing the words in the lesson have a go at reading the words tight, might, right & sight and spelling the words high, sigh, light & night.
