Monday

Recap all sounds/phonemes learnt so far.

Recap all high frequency words (including tricky words) so far.

If your child is unsure of any, concentrate on those for the rest of the week.

Recap the vowel digraphs, ai, ee, oa, ow & oi.

Practise spelling the following words with the digraphs in, foil, owl, soil, howl, coil, wail, foal, pail, tail, reel, peel & goal.

Play the buried treasure game on Phonics Play and enter your own words as follows…

Real words: boil, howl, coil, goal, feel & tail

Fake words: gowl, yoal, zail & geel

Write the sentence: Can an eel howl?

Tuesday

Recap all sounds/phonemes learnt so far.

Recap all high frequency words (including tricky words) so far.

Take time today to focus on five sounds/phonemes and five words that your child is unsure of and practise these.

Listen to Geraldine the Giraffe teach ear.  Find the ear lesson on Bug Club. Follow the lesson.

As well as practising reading and writing the words on the Bug Club lesson, practise reading the words near, tear, year & beard and spelling the words ear, dear, fear & hear.

Write the sentence: I can hear an owl hoot at night.

Use the phoneme chart to find the sounds if needed.

Wednesday

Recap all sounds/phonemes learnt so far.

Recap all high frequency words (including tricky words) so far.

Take time today to focus on five sounds/phonemes and five words that your child is unsure of and practise these.

Watch Geraldine the Giraffe teach the er lesson. Find the ur as er lesson on Bug Club. Follow the lesson. As well as practising reading and writing the words in the Bug Club lesson practise spelling the words fern, herd & her and play the Buried Treasure game on phonics play choosing the er phoneme.

Read the following questions and ask yes or no.

Is it hot this year?

Can she see a herd of cows?

Thursday

Recap all high frequency words (including tricky words) so far.

Take time today to focus on five sounds/phonemes and five words that your child is unsure of and practise these.

Focus on the word ‘her’. 

Watch the Bug Club ur as er lesson again.

Practise reading the words hammer, farmer, boxer, lighter, rocker, better, harder & corner.

Write the sentence:

The hammer hit the nail hard.
