Phonics - Stars Group

Monday

Recap all the sounds and words learnt so far using the power points attached or phonics play.  I have also put up the tricky word songs for phase 3 and 4 and a You Tube program for reading the tricky words in Phase 5.

Practise reading and writing the high frequency words at the beginning of each lesson this week.  It is really helpful for your child if the high frequency words can be read by sight without having to be sounded out.  Choose five that your child doesn’t know so well. Once your child is confident with those five, choose the next five.  If five words are too much try three.

Watch Geraldine teach oe. Find the Bug Club lesson oe and follow the lesson.  Explain that oe usually goes at the end of word.  As well as practising reading and writing the words on the Bug Club lesson please play Buried Treasure on Phonics Play using the oe phoneme and practise writing the words hoe, toe, Joe & doe.

Practise reading the word, ‘looked’.
