Monday Phonics

Recap all the sounds and words learnt so far in phases 2 & 3 using the power points attached or Phonics Play (see link).

Practise spelling the phase 2 & 3 high frequency words. Choose 5 to practise each day then once they are memorised, move onto the next five.

Recap reading the words was, will, with, she, all, went & said from last week.

Teach reading the words for, have, like, it’s & just.  You could write the words on pieces of card x2 and then play a simple pairs game to practise reading the words.

Find the Bug Club lesson ‘oo (long) and oo (short)’ lessons on Bug Club and play these lessons. You can also watch Mr Thorne teach long and short oo if you like.

As well as the words in the Bug Club lesson practise reading the words food, moon, root, room (long oo) and the words took, foot, wood & hook (short oo).

Practise spelling the words too, zoom, cool & boot (long oo) and the words book look, cook & good (short oo).

Play Buried Treasure on Phonics Play using the oo phoneme in phase 3.

Write the sentence, ‘The boot is too cool.’

Read the caption, ‘I had a good book.’

Tuesday Phonics

Recap all the sounds and words learnt so far in phases 2 & 3 using the power points attached or phonics play. 

Practise spelling the phase 3 high frequency words. Choose 5 to practise each day then once they are memorised, move onto the next five.

Recap reading the words was, will, with, she, all, went & said from last week.

Find the Bug Club lessons oo long as ew and oo long as ue. Follow the lessons. Don’t forget to listen to the alphabet song first.

Play Buried Treasure on Phonics Play with the ew phoneme. Go to Buried Treasure, choose phase 5, then choose the ew phoneme/grapheme. 

Read the words blew, flew, grew, chew, clue, blue, true, glue & Sue

Practise spelling the words brew, flew, grew, clue, blue & clue.

Write the sentence, ‘Tom chews some meat.’

Read the sentence, ‘The glue is blue.’

Wednesday Phonics

Recap all the sounds and words learnt so far in phases 2, 3 and 4 using the power points attached or phonics play. 

Practise spelling the phase 3 high frequency words. Choose 5 to practise each day then once they are memorised, move onto the next five.

Find the ‘ar’ lesson on Bug Club.  Follow the lesson. Watch Mr Thorne teach ar following the link and you can watch the ar lesson on BBC Bitezise following the link.

Practise reading the words market, car, cart & hard.

Practise spelling the words bar, park, card & jar.

Read the following questions and answer yes or no.

Can you cook?

Can you zoom in a car?

Is the park far?

Practise reading the words look and too.

Have a go at completing the 'ar' sheet attached.

Thursday Phonics

Practise spelling the words jigsaw, crawl, straw, jaw and prawn.

Have a go at reading the sentences I will crawl on the lawn.

Friday Phonics
