Celebrations

Talk to your child about celebrations. What do they know about celebrating? You might talk about Christmas, Bonfire night, birthdays and family weddings.  Please write your child's ideas down word for word to put up on Tapestry later.

Show your child the New Year's party invitation.  Ask your child to think about what they would need to do to prepare for the party.  For example, put up decorations, buy and prepare food, decide what to wear, choose music etc. Encourage your child to draw a picture and write a list of what they will need to to do prepare for the party. Please give your child the correct spellings. Please take a photo of the list and post it on Tapestry.

Prepare a tray with items or pictures of items that might be found at a party for example, a cake, party hat, balloon, music CD,  a card, bunting.  Play Kim's game with the children - cover their eyes, take away one or two items from the tray and ask what is missing. Repeat with other items.

Write an invitation to your teddies and toys, inviting them to come to a party on Thursday.  Don't forget to include information like time, place and what they need to wear. Please provide spellings for your child if they are unsure how to write a word. Remind your child to use their best handwriting.

Encourage your child to think about what they need to do before a party, during a party and after a party. For example, before a party - make a cake, prepare food, decorate, decide on what you want to wear, send out invitations.  During a party - play games, dance, eat.  After a party - tidy up, send thank you cards, party bags. Please write your child's ideas down under three headings, Before, During & After and post your child's thoughts on Tapestry.

Thank you
