Science Friday

To continue our work with winter, please try to identify some birds that you see in your garden or on walks (robins, chaffinches, blackbirds, blue tits). Talk about how these birds might be looking for food or water.

Make a simple bird feeder to hang in your garden or on a fence.  To make the bird feeder, cut a simple shape from some card.  Punch a hole in the side. Smear with a little honey or syrup. Sprinkle bird food on the syrup or honey. Tie some string in a loop and hang outside.  Extend the children's learning by talking about how some birds migrate and travel to other countries (swifts, and swallows) and some birds come to our country (redwings and fieldfares) that it is called migration.

Please post a picture onto Tapestry of your birdfeeders.

Thank you
Mrs Slade.
