Lunchtime Concert

26th May 2016
Our String Orchestra, Wind Band and Choir performed at the Minster Church in Axminster today as part of the lunchtime concert series.  This is our fourth year of performing in the lunchtime concert series and this concert was enjoyable as ever.  The string orchestra opened the concert with a strong performance of the Going For Gold suite by Kathy and David Blackwell; We are the Champions, Trampolining, Ping Pong, Skating and Relay Race.  This was followed by a violin solo, Rondeau, played beautifully by Iris.  After that the Wind Band played four pieces: Night Flight, Hot Salsa, Feelin' Blue and Tropicana written by I Mackenzie.  Ffion performed a flute solo brilliantly and then after a minutes silence in memory of Father Michael, the year six children in the choir performed A Claire Benediction by John Rutter.  Finally the choir closed the concert with Good Night, a Russian song arranged by Doreen Rae and Firefly by Andy Beck.   The children's hard work was noted by our appreciative audience by rousing applause.  We are now looking forward to performing at our annual music evening and Dalwood Music Day.
